Marijuana Service Organization Provides Light for Boulder Residents
DENVER - In the aftermath of a 100-year flood that devastated Boulder and nearby communities, many residents are still rebuilding as winter falls. A donation from the Denver Relief GREEN TEAM, in coordination with Lighting Science, will help make their nights a little brighter. A donation of hundreds of light bulbs will mean thousands of dollars savings for Flatirons Habitat for Humanity.
Lighting Science, a Florida-based lighting research company, designs and tests cutting edge LED lights designed to be long-lasting and energy efficient. Often times, these bulbs have years of illumination left to give when they’ve finished the testing phase. Looking for a way to get them to flood victims, they reached out to Denver Relief Consulting, a leader in the medical marijuana industry.
“While this fell outside the scope of our usual volunteer efforts, we couldn’t help but get involved,” said Nick Hice, founding partner at Denver Relief Consulting. “We’re starting to receive more and more requests like this with no connection to the medical marijuana industry because we help with such a wide variety of causes.”
Assisting in the transfer of the bulbs was the Denver Relief GREEN TEAM, receiving the two large palettes to their warehouse, then unpacking and loading the Habitat pick-up truck to the brim. A team of seven GREEN TEAM volunteers made quick work of the job, although finding a willing charity was anything but swift.
“Most organizations we reached out to were worried about supplies for cleanup, not rebuilding” notes Chelsey Joseph of Denver Relief Consulting. “If you didn’t have an item that was on their list, they couldn’t accept the donation.”
As with projects in the past, though, the GREEN TEAM believes they found an excellent partner in the end. Those at Flatirons Habitat for Humanity couldn’t agree more.
“At Flatirons Habitat for Humanity we are thankful for all in kind donations of goods and services to help further our mission of building decent and affordable housing for hard working families,” said Casey Payne, Communications Coordinator for Flatirons Habitat for Humanity. “The donation from Lighting Science will help with all of our current and future construction projects- including Critical Home Repair and building new homes in the Boulder area. From nails, to tools to lights, every little bit counts and makes a difference.”
Kayvan Khalatbari and Ean Seeb, also founding partners of Denver Relief Consulting, are currently in Seattle, speaking at the National CannaBusiness Conference and Expo.
